FEBRUARY CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE

The Links Staff are preparing to start this year’s Course Improvement Resolutions so that the main work load is completed before the golf season is fully underway. The following schedule is the first phase of our work. We are planning to start the next phase of our Long Range Tree Plan in March.

February 12th to 18th:
Practice Fairway drainage improvement will start on February 12th with the removal of sod and existing poor soil around the drainage catch basins. There are 6 sites scheduled for improvement with an average of 1600 square feet per site. These sites will be filled with sand for better drainage and catch basins reset to the proper slopes. The areas will be prepped for sod which will be installed around February 25th to 28th. The practice fairway will be closed during the construction work and we plan to re-open for February 16th & 17th.

February 19th and 20th:
The 14th tee deck has become very crowned due to the small area, extensive play and top-dressing. We will excavate the surface to bring the grade back to a flatter surface and prepare for sod. The new turf will be installed around February 25th to 28th. A temporary tee will be used during the construction work and the lower tee deck will be in play until the new sod is ready for play.

February 21st and 22nd:
The approach in front of the 18th green will be improved due to the wet condition of the existing soil. This small area in front of the green was not done during the construction in 2010 and the site is wet and soft throughout most of the year. The soil will be excavated and removed with new drainage installed where necessary. A sand mix will be installed and prepared to grade and ready for new turf. The new sod will be installed around February 25th to 28th.  A temporary green will be used during the construction work.

Thanks,

Links Department
