At the most recent Links Committee meeting it was decided to take a new approach to conserving the turf on our range tee. In recent years, the level of activity at our practice facility has increased significantly and by the time we get to August we are out of usable turf. In order to improve the amount of usable turf we have initiated a split tee system. We can irrigate the seed in one divot section while the other part of the tee line is in use.
The other new policy we are going to initiate is using only mats on Monday’s, Thursday’s and Sunday afternoons. We hope this will provide us with enough usable turf to last until the end of the golf season.
At the end of the season, the committee will review the overall results of this new policy and then make whatever adjustments are needed for next year.
