Record rain days in October certainly added to the challenge of properly preparing the golf course for play every day. Blowing and clearing leaves is a daily task and we’ve been mowing greens and fairways as weather permits. We have also been fertilizing and spraying for disease when needed and when the opportunity arises.
We had a contractor come in to repair the 12 inch pipes on the main de-watering pumps on 3 and 11 tees. They had started to form leaks due to corrosion and water pressure.
Our Links staff have been installing new drain lines to replace those that have clogged due to invasion of tree roots. We have also been cleaning many other drain lines with plumbing snakes and water pressure to maintain efficient drainage on the golf course. Keep in mind we had 28 wet days in the month of October.
Over the next few months our Links staff will spend some time on tree trimming and pruning and will refurbish all of the outdoor course accessories.
